Lorong 9 Beef Kway Teow

This is probably the best Beef Kway Teow in Singapore. This coffee shop is more commonly known as Lorong 9 Beef Kway Teow or 九巷牛河 in Chinese. It serves a variety of local dishes but their signature dish is the Beef Kway Teow (牛肉河粉). At $5 a plate, there is a generous portion of beef slices which are soft which may be a result of careful meat tendering process in the kitchen. They are well marinated and delicious with the nicely charred kway Teow. The mildly peppered black bean gravy is not overly starchy and the tinge of spiciness added some zing.

As this is very famous Beef Kway Teow outlet, it will take customers some time to get a bowl of beef noodles especially when it is after 6 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekends. Although the chef and service staff is trying their best to speed up the queue of waiting customers but there is always a willing crowd to form the usual queue. As for the environment, it is relatively hot with some ceiling fans in service. We would advise people to go there after 7 or 8 pm when the sun has gone down, and then you can enjoy your delicious bowl of Beef Kway Teow without sweating. The soup is great and it is common to see customers asking for refills. As I live near the stall, I visit it at least twice a week and I would recommend it to those who love soup Beef Kway Teow and fried beef kway tiao.
