Otto’s Deli Fresh restaurant is inspired by the career and vision of Chef Otto Weibel, one of the most respected veterans of Singapore F&B, who has won various awards through his culinary career and previous stints in esteemed five star hotels in Singapore. Otto’s Deli Fresh encapsulates Chef Otto’s passionate desire to bring homespun recipes with refined gourmet flavours to the tables of family, friends and neighbors.
Once you step inside the basement of the restaurant, you will be greeted with the generous display of cold cuts, meats (from Australia, New Zealand, and Japanese), fresh oysters (from France, Ireland and New Zealand), fine cheeses and seasonal vegetables, all carefully curated by Weibel. And if you pop by during the right season, you might find Italian truffles and special mushrooms (ceps and morels).
The dine-in offerings, such as mushroom soup, a couple of Panini sandwiches, a small list of pastas and grilled meats, seem almost basic. But the pedigree behind their creation is evident — each is as excellent a rendition as you are likely to find anywhere else. Mushroom soup is my favourite, it is immensely enjoyable, thick and rich with full-bodied brown mushrooms and has the earthy depth of dried porcini. There are roast meats, grilled as one might do at home — simply seasoned with salt — except they are far better than most of our home-cooked renditions.
The menu offered here features simple comfort food. Do not expect anything sophisticated as the focus is on the quality of ingredients here. If you are looking for food prepared from premium produce and has the fear that it may empty your bank account, then this is the place for you.
