Baijiu and Martial arts

One of the baijiu cultures displayed in the Wuliangye museum is about baijiu and martial arts. Since ancient times, poets are often associated as baijiu lovers. In fact, the warriors from ancient times were also known to love drinking because it could show their great spirit and martialism. There are also many types of martial arts derived from the drinking myths such as the drunken fists, the drunken swords and etc. These are successfully conveyed especially in the Hong Kong movies where the heroic complex of the characters has influenced the passionate younger generations.

The Emergence of the Name Wuliangye

In olden times, Wuliangye was called “Za Liang Jiu” or baijiu made of food grains and the literatis called it “Yao Zixue” . In a grand event, Mr Deng Zijun (Wuliangye successor) changed the name to “Wuliangye which means the essence of the five grains and cereals.

85 ° original cellar baijiu

Outside the “ Chun Yang Dong”, we were lucky to taste the 85 ° original cellar baijiu which sells at $8888 per 500 gram. The taste of the baijiu is sweet at first and then slightly spicy when down the throat. The aroma will lingers on in the mouth for a long time making you wanting more. Here, we also get to know a saying: “ Luzhou Laojiao, China’s honour, 1573, just drink it! ”

Guo Jiao Da Qiao

“Guo Jiao Da Qiao”  is a famous bridge in Luzhou. It is an extra reinforced cabled 1,094 meters long bridge across the Yangtze river. The river near the bridge has a number of floating restaurants. A boat ride on the river will enable you to appreciate the beauty of the river, feel the breeze, look at the shinning “Luzhou Laojiao” and “Guo Jiao 1573” lightboards. It is absolutely the best thing to do here.

Wuliangye bottle building

The Wuliangye bottle-shaped building represents the comprehensive production industry and was named the “Wuliangye bottle building” at the Peng Cheng Plaza. The pond in front of the building is called “Wuliang Yao Chi” and in the pond there are five goddess statues which represent the five types of grains that are used in the brewing of Wuliangye.

Jiu Sheng mountain

The Jiu Sheng mountain in Wuliangye is the highest place in the Ten-Star Alcohol City, with an elevation of 320 meters. At the top of the mountain, there is a “Jin Shi Nv” statue which is a statue of an ancient beauty riding on a lion at the foot of the mountain. Under the “Jin Shi Nv” statue there is a liquor jar, collecting all the nature essences to brew Wuliangye. It takes about 10 mins to reach the top of the mountain and you will be able to have a panoramic view of the whole Wuliangye area.

The tenth Banchan Lama Great Master and Wuliangye

The tenth Banchan Lama Great Master who was once a vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, used Wuliangye in the religious meetings of the goddess. During the ceremony, he smiled benevolently while holding the Wuliangye bottle high up to bless the national unity. This significant moment has been carved on the walls (Figure 2) for its significant  commemoration.
