Just before the arrival of the New Year, we welcome our important guest, Mr Cai Fa Fu the Deputy General Manager of Sichuan Jiannanchun (Group) Co. After a harmonious chat, both Mr Cai and Mr Oon hit it off instantly and commenced the plotting of Jiannanchun entry in the Singapore’s baijiu market. They both agreed to bring Jiannanchun baijiu into this market as part of the evolution of the Chinese baijiu culture. So to all the Jiannanchun baijiu fans in Singapore, are you ready for this?

Wuliangye Sacrificial Ceremony

On December 18 2017, the 21st Wuliangye sacrificial ceremony during the Jiu Sheng festival was held under the Jiu Sheng mountain of Wuliangye. The theme of this ceremony is called “five grains for thousands years of history, five generations for thousands years of abundance”. It tells the long history of Wuliangye brewing culture and the spirit of the great craftsman behind it. There are more than 600 participants at this grand occasion, including important guests like the Vice Mayor of Yibin city Mr Liao Wenbin, Party Secretary and Chairman of Wuliangye Group Mr Li Shuguang, General Manager of Wuliangye Group and Chairman of the Wuliangye Yibin Company Ltd Mr Liu Zhongguo and many representatives from different departments.

The Wuliangye sacrificial ceremony was divided into four chapters: “five grains to meet the world”, “five grains of ancient love”, “five grains to shine the world” and ” five grains have thousands years of abundance”. This solemn and grand ceremony used an artistic performance to show the world the quintessence of Wuliangye. It also hope that the Chinese people will inherit and carry forward the thousand years of the Chinese culture.

Wuliangye Museum

China’s baijiu production is really huge. Even though many people love to drink and get drunk, in the long history of the extensive and profound baijiu culture, drunken behaviour has never become a social public hazard, “Jiu De” or the good social etiquette of drinking that we practised must be the key reason.

Baijiu DIY Center

We visited Chateau Qiankun baijiu DIY center, under the guidance of a sommelier from Luzhou Laojiao. We got hands on experience like blending a cup of baijiu according to our own tastes. We also learn about the art of baijiu tasting as well. The DIY classroom was bright and spacious, decorated like a traditional Chinese styled chemistry lab. Our sommelier was an elegant classical beauty in a white cotton Chinese gown. She taught us the four important steps of  “calm, observe, smell and taste” in the art of baijiu tasting. By following the steps, it felt like we had travelled back to the most prosperous era of the Chinese traditional culture.
