2024 Singapore International Cultural Festival ‘Moutai Cup’ Wushu Competition

Organized by the Singapore Youth Cultural Arts Centre and co-organized by the Singapore Wushu Home and the Singapore International Martial Arts Cultural Exchange Centre, the 6th Singapore International Cultural Festival “Moutai Cup” Wushu Competition was successfully held at the Singapore Sports School on July 27. This event, titled sponsored by Moutai under the Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd, attracted over 1,300 participants and spectators from countries and regions including China, Hong Kong (China), Germany, Belgium, Nepal, India, Oman, and Myanmar, becoming an unforgettable cultural festival.

“China Times” International Celebrity Go Tournament

On June 29, 2024, the “China Times” International Celebrity Go Tournament, co-organized by the Singapore Weiqi Association and the International Forum, was held at the Singapore Weiqi Association Clubhouse. This tournament invited renowned Go players from around the world, attracting the attention of many well-known Go enthusiasts and supporters of the Urban Culture Forum.

Singapore China Baijiu Pte., Ltd. sponsored the event with its Moutai brand. This initiative not only highlights Moutai’s cultural heritage and social responsibility as a historically rich baijiu brand but also reflects its deep recognition and active support of traditional Chinese culture. This year’s International Celebrity Go Tournament featured an innovative competition system that combined competitiveness, entertainment, and digitalization, incorporating artificial intelligence elements for the first time. On the day of the tournament, 17 Go players participated in a one-day exchange match. The Singapore Go Tournament featured two 6-dan players who competed in five rounds. The competition hall was serene and solemn, with spectators holding their breath, watching quietly. The players were focused, strategically arranging and moving pieces on the black-and-white board. They maneuvered skillfully, contemplating each move, demonstrating strategic depth in a high-level competition that captivated the audience.

As a traditional cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, Go is known as the “chess of life, gymnastics of wisdom.” It boasts a long development history and rich cultural heritage, making it a beloved intellectual sport. The successful hosting of this “China Times” International Celebrity Go Tournament not only provided a platform for Go enthusiasts to exchange and hone their skills but also allowed more people to appreciate the charm of Go. On June 28, 2024, the 6th International Urban Culture Forum, hosted by the China Times Media Group (Hong Kong), was successfully held at the Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore. This year’s forum focused on the theme “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Urban Culture and its Future Development.” Experts, scholars, and elite artists from various fields gathered to discuss the cutting-edge issues of current artificial intelligence technology and explore new paths for the development of urban culture.

Dr. Xi Hongwei, Vice President of the Singapore Weiqi Association, has observed the current lack of a strong Go foundation in Singapore and recognizes the revolutionary impact of AI Go programs like AlphaGo. Drawing from his own experience, he explores collaboration opportunities between human expertise and AI in the realm of Go.

Master Chen Junrong, founder of Zhengdao Group and Vice President of the International Feng Shui Association, approaches the topic from the perspective of feng shui. He analyzes the theoretical realm of AI’s creation of databases and the relationship of theoretical data in feng shui, aiming to leverage AI to enhance artistic creativity and innovation, surpassing AI in human emotional and creative capacities.
