Recently, Dunhuang art has traveled across mountains and seas to shine in Singapore. The classical Flying Fairy dance drama Dunhuang: Imprints, passionately created by the Dunhuang College, Northwest Normal University, was successfully staged in Singapore, taking audiences on a journey through a thousand years of history and recreating the grandeur of the Silk Road.

As one of the sponsors of the performance, Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd proudly supported the event with Kweichow Moutai. The initiative aims to promote cultural exchange between Singapore and China, showcasing the beauty of Dunhuang flying deity art, the profound heritage of Silk Road culture, and its contemporary significance, offering audiences a visual feast of culture and art.

Flying Fairy Kweichow Moutai on Display
On the day of the performance, Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd presented Kweichow Moutai Flying Fairy at the venue, attracting numerous attendees to pause, admire, and take photos.

The Flying Fairy embodies Eastern aesthetic imagery and harmonizes beautifully with the floating, ethereal flying figures in the Dunhuang dance. The fusion of traditional craftsmanship and classical art drew many parents to bring their children, adding a unique cultural dimension to the event.

Cultural Expression Full of Youthful Energy
Dunhuang: Imprints was created by the Dunhuang College, Northwest Normal University. The performance centers on the dialogue between ancient donors and modern narrators, weaving together 12 pieces, including group dances such as Stone Wall Buddhist Chants, female ensemble Pipa Strings, male ensemble Heavenly Kings Formation, and duets like Strings & Drums in Harmony. Through these vibrant and youthful artistic expressions, the performance vividly showcases the depth and richness of Dunhuang culture.

Reviving the Flying Deities
Sections such as the female ensemble Pipa Strings and male ensemble Heavenly Kings Formation bring the flying figures of Dunhuang murals to life through fluid movements and unique musical expression. Every color, turn, and leap is a fusion of classical and contemporary elements, delivering a dual impact on both the eyes and the soul of the audience.

Youth Leading Cultural Preservation
Su Ruixuan, chief director and young faculty member of the Dunhuang College, Northwest Normal University, emphasized that the mission of cultural inheritance will continue. By nurturing young talents as guardians and promoters of Dunhuang culture, more outstanding works will be created to convey the spirit of Dunhuang and tell China’s stories.
