Cai Yun Zhi Nan
Cai Yun Zhi Nan is a newly opened restaurant specialized in the Yunnan cuisine.
Most of their ingredients are freshly picked and sent from Yunnan. Yunnan is a
province in the southwestern part of China. It is famous for its varied landscape
encompassing snow-capped mountains, rice terraces, lakes and deep gorges.
The region is known for its large number of ethnic minorities. Modern Kunming,
known as the “Spring City,” has many museums and temples, including the
colourful Yuantong Temple. To the southeast, the Shilin Stone Forest contains
limestone karst peaks formed some 270 million years ago.
Yunnan is rich in natural resources and has the largest diversity of plant life
in China. Of the approximately 30,000 species of higher plants in China, Yunnan
has perhaps 17,000 or more. Yunnan cuisine is vastly varied, and it is difficult to
make generalisations. Many Yunnan dishes are quite spicy, and mushrooms are
featured prominently. Flowers, ferns, algae and insects may also be eaten.
