The Mustafa Centre is the only 24/7 shopping mall in Singapore. It is located on Syed Alwi Road, off Serangoon Road in the famous tourist belt called Little India. The Mustafa Centre was founded by an Indian businessman Mr Mustaq Ahmad back in 1971. It started as a clothing and apparel store and when his business expanded, Mr Mustaq bought a shop house on Syed Alwi Road. Subsequently, he also bought the neighbouring units and finally decided to build a new shopping mall to house his business.
Although not ornate or funky in appearance like other shopping malls in Singapore, the Mustafa Centre is well known for its extensive selection of items and the competitive prices. Amazingly, bargaining of prices is an accepted way of retailing in this shopping mall. All product categories are open for bargaining; clothes, perfume, souvenirs, electronics, cosmetics, candy, general merchandise and even food. There is something for everyone even for those with tight budgets. Surprising the quality of the economical items is very good.
It has been become a household fact that good and cheap items are still obtainable from the Mustafa Center. Being in Little India, it is mandatory to find a large variety of Indian clothing and accessories in the Mustafa Centre. It also provides a variety of services such as foreign exchange, visa processing and even travel booking.
