The National Day of Singapore is celebrated every year on August 9, in commemoration of the Singapore’s independence from Malaysia in the year 1965. It is a public holiday which will feature a military parade combined with song & dance performances preceded by a guard of honour inspection by the President. Towards the end of the National Day celebrations, the bursts of colourful fireworks will lit up the night sky. On the eve of National Day, the Prime Minister will deliver an address to the nation which will be broadcast live on the national TV airtime.
Singaporeans from all walks of life, race & religion will join hands to celebrate the nation’s independence day.
